Robert Harold Tucker's Obituary
Robert Harold "Bawb" Tucker passed peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Tidal Health - Nanticoke in Seaford, Delaware following a long illness. He was 75 years old.
Born on August 27, 1948 at Prince George's Hospital in Cheverly, MD he was the son of the late Chester H. and Grace M. (Owen) Tucker. He graduated in 1966 from Duval High School in Bowie, Maryland. Bawb always loved working in radio broadcasting and after stops in Quantico, VA, Denver, CO, Welch WV, and Birmingham, AL, he married the former Margaret (Mike) Stephens in 1972.
Bawb began a career in the United States Air Force in 1974 and retired as a Tech. Sergeant in 1994. During his twenty years of service to our Nation he was stationed in the Northernmost US Air Force Base, Thule, Greenland and on Guam. Stateside he served in Cheyenne, WY, Syracuse, NY, Chandler, AZ, Biloxi, MS, and Knob Noster, MO. Bawb especially loved living on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.
As a member of the Air Force Bawb was a five time graduate of (DINFOS) Defense Information School, Indianapolis, IN. His certifications were obtained in the fields of Print Media, Public Affairs, and Radio and Television Broadcasting and Production. In 1980, Bawb was the National winner of the prestigious Thomas Jefferson Award. He won in the element of Print Media
After the destruction of hurricane Katrina, Bawb relocated to Preston, MD in 2007. It was there he eventually met and married his second wife, the former Frances Kostkowski. Bawb and Frances were married on October 31, 2017.
Other than his work as a long time radio personality, Bawb enjoyed singing, and playing guitar and harmonica. After moving to the Eastern Shore in 2007, he and his brother entertained as "Tucker Brothers Karaoke".
Besides his wife Frances, Bawb is survived by his son Daniel Tucker of Tempe, AZ, his sister Charlotte Townend (Harold) of Hemet, CA, his brother Randy Tucker (Diane) of Preston, MD, daughter-in-law Beth Tucker, along with four grandchildren, three step-sons, two nephews and his best friend Tommy Lepson.
He was pre-deceased by his oldest son, James (J.B. ) Tucker.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Framptom Funeral Home by the Coales, Federalsburg, Maryland. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Beulah, Maryland where military honors will be rendered.
