Robert Stewart Durham's Obituary
Robert Stewart Durham, Jr. of Federalsburg died at Easton Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 18, 2009. He was 80.
He was born in Baltimore, MD on July 12, 1929 the son of the late Robert Stewart Durham, Sr. and Kathleen Alheit Durham.
He attended school in Western Maryland and then served in the Marine Corp from 1951 – 1953.
He moved to the Eastern Shore in 1959 and worked as a Poultry Inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture. For many years he owned and operated Durham’s Market in Secretary. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church located on Federalsburg Highway and American Legion Post 29 in Denton, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Huebel Durham whom he married on October 28, 1951 and two children, Diana Whitby of Federalsburg and Larry Durham and his wife Glinda of Federalsburg and four grandchildren, Robert Whitby and his wife Julie of Seaford and Tina Ledford, Brent Durham and Joey Durham all of Federalsburg and three great-grandchildren, Brooks Whitby, Alana Chester and Connor Spedden.
Memorial services for him will be held at Concord United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James Michael officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Concord Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
The family has requested that donations be made in his memory to the Memorial Fund at Concord United Methodist Church P. O. Box 461 Denton, MD 21629.
