Ronald Randolph Southard's Obituary
Ronald “Smoky” Randolph Southard of Federalsburg passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 71.
He was born on February 22, 1939 in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late Walter Southard and Ruby Towers Southard Donovan.
He was raised by his Aunt, Nettie Whitby. He married the former Patricia Phillips on September 27, 1963. He began working at E.I. Dupont and then enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. He then returned to E.I. Dupont where he was a supervisor. He retired in 1993 after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the Nanticoke Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Federalsburg and the Elks Lodge in Seaford, DE. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Phillips Southard of Federalsburg, two sons, Jay Ronald Southard and his wife, Jennifer of Seaford, and Richard Southard and his wife Tracy of Federalsburg, two grandchildren, Abigail Southard and Natalie Southard, and one brother, Wayne Southard of Federalsburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jackson and a granddaughter, Patricia Southard.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Reverend Denzil T. Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
