Rose Ann Sutherland's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Ann Sutherland on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the age of 84. She entered this world on December 9, 1940 and was the beloved daughter of James Allen and Lily String Allen.
She graduated from Easton Senior High School, Class of 1959. On December 27, 1959, she married James Howard Sutherland. They began their life of love in Grasonville, MD.
That love story would continue when they relocated to Easton, MD. They would then welcome the joys of their lives, daughters Teresa Ann and Lisa Ann.
Rose Ann would enjoy life as a stay at home mom until Howard lost his sight in the late 1960s. She would then begin working in the world of retail for a short while. The better part of her working career was that of a counterperson for two dry cleaning businesses in Easton, MD. Those businesses were Merrimac Cleaners and Admiral Cleaners. She loved serving the public, and they loved her right back. This was evident by the response she received when customers saw her outside the workplace.
She loved vacationing with family in Ocean City and Lancaster, PA. She especially enjoyed her visits to North Carolina to spend time with the Ganshaws, who were "friends like family". BINGO is a word she liked to yell in her later years at grocery bingo's held at local fire halls. She also enjoyed attending sporting events of special little ones in her life.
Those left behind to relish fond memories are daughters Teresa and Lisa; sisters Jackie Lituski and Carolyn Behr (Nick); along with several nieces and nephews. Rose Ann also leaves behind a "second family" whom think of her as mom, mom-mom and great grandmom. This would be Inez Bright, Melissa Matthews (Jay), Lisa Beard (Jason), Ashley Eckeard (Lawrence), and Skylar and Miles. She will be greatly missed by her grand-furbabies- Dolly and Reba.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother Wayne, and a niece and nephew.
Her daughters appreciate the excellent care she received from Compass Regional Hospice. Heartfelt thanks to Nurse Jackie and Home Health Aide Shanae.
