Russell Ervin Simms, Sr.'s Obituary
Russell Ervin Simms Sr. was born January 26, 1942, in Federalsburg, MD, to the late Noble and Elenora Simms, he attended Lockerman High School.
He married Carolyn Evans in 1968 and had 3 children out of this union, he attended New Birth Church in Williamsville, DE, where he served as treasurer. Russell was a kind, fun-loving guy, to know him was to love him. He loved watching his sons play baseball, he would buy candy and pass it out to all the kids, so he was known as the "Candy Man". He enjoyed gardening and would often keep his family and friends supplied with vegetables. He also enjoyed cooking and telling jokes. He was employed at Continental Can, which later became Crown Cork and Seal for many years, as well as other jobs on the side.
Russell departed this life during the early morning of May 1, 2020, at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. He was preceded in death by his parents Noble and Elenora Simms, his brothers, Alonzo Simms, Shelton Simms, Morris Simms, Claude Simms, a sister, Brenda Simms, a nephew, Morris Simms Sr., and a daughter, Cheryl Allen.
He leaves precious memories with his children Iris Griffin of Fort Wayne IN, Donna Smith (Curtis) of Greenwood, DE, Donnell Cornish of Frederica, DE, Russell Simms Jr. of Federalsburg, MD, Tamiko Simms of Federalsburg, MD, Dondrell Simms of Federalsburg, MD, his siblings Shirley Simms of Seaford, DE, Barbara Stevens (Paul) Sylvia Ross (Robert) of Camden, DE, Virgil Simms (Lee Lee Lake) of Hurlock, MD, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held at Framptom Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2020, from 1-5pm. Due to restrictions regarding COVID-19, we will be allowing five people to come into the building to view at a time. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
