Ruth E. Lankford of Federalsburg, Maryland passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge, MD. She was 78.
She was born in Dorchester County, Maryland the daughter of the late Robert Lee Elzey and Della Wroten Elzey.
She was married to the late Charles Lankford who passed away in 1977. She was a nurse and later grew laying hens for Perdue. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles and watching movies.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Lankford and his wife, Virginia of Federalsburg, Pat Lankford and his wife Yvonne of Chesapeake City, Maryland, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nine siblings; Sallie Crandell of Baltimore, MD, Katie Crandell of Federalsburg, MD, Elwood Elzey of Madison, MD, Calvin Elzey of Church Creek, MD, Doris Marshall of Cambridge, MD, Lucille Barnes of Woolford, MD, Joyce Horseman of Madison, MD, Peggy Horseman of Madison, MD and Brenda Willey of East New Market, MD. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Eskridge and Joanne Elzey and two brothers, Robert “Buddy” Elzey and Johnny Elzey.
A funeral is planned for Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 11:00a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with her son, Minister Pat Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call the funeral home Monday night from 6-8 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
