Ruth E. Quillen Towers' Obituary
Ruth E. Quillen Towers of Federalsburg passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Envoy of Denton. She was 86.
Mrs. Towers was born on Sept. 11, 1924 in Denton, Maryland, daughter of the late John Harvey Quillen and Elizabeth Thawley Quillen. Her husband of 70 years, Lawrence H. Towers, preceded her in death two weeks ago on July 14, 2011.
She was a graduate of Denton High School. Mrs. Towers was a homemaker and had worked for over 30 years for Maryland Plastics retiring as a supervisor.
She attended Harmony United Methodist Church and Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Doris T. Meredith and her husband Edwin of Federalsburg, J. Lynne Breeding of Federalsburg, and Connie E. Dunnock and her husband Emmett, of Cambridge, a daughter-in-law, Diane Towers of Federalsburg, seven grandchildren, Katherine M. Cummings, Sally M. Worm, Terri T. Blanchfield, Jeff M. Towers, Heather L. Kraus, Carl E. Dunnock, Chelsea E. Dunnock, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, L. Marvin Towers, a brother, Edward Quillen, and three sisters, Marie Thomas, Evelyn Patrick, and Rachel Williamson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Walker, Rev. Karen Bongard, and Rev. Robert Mackert officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Chestnut Grove UMC, c/o Peggy Culhane, 5170 Long Swamp Road, Federalsburg, MD 21632.
