Samuel Coppage's Obituary
Samuel Coppage passed at his home in Preston, MD on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.
The son of the late Ida Mae Coppage, Sam was born on May 11, 1939 in Cambridge, MD. He received his formal education in Dorchester County at schools in E. New Market and Hurlock. Sam served in the US Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his time in the service Sam went on to work for Continental Can, and Crown Cork & Seal for forty years.
Sam was a great outdoors man. He enjoyed turkey hunting, trapping, crabbing, fishing and he even had his commercial fishermen's license. Earlier in life Sam had a large garden.
On October 2, 1959 Sam married his wife Barbara Lee. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage until her passing in 2002. Sam later married Joanne Greenage 2009., and she sadly passed in 2023.
Left to mourn Sam are his brothers Allen Coppage, Raymond Coppage, and Russell Dukes.; and his step-children Billy Greenage and Claire Bennett. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews to whom he was very close.
Preceding Sam in death were his mother Ida; his wives Barbara and Joanne; his sister Alice Collins; and his loving and faithful dog Victoria.
A funeral service will be held at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg starting at 1pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. His family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the start of service. Burial in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston, MD will follow the conclusion of the service.
