Scott William Mister's Obituary
Scott William Mister of Tilghman, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday, March 21, 2024. He was 64 years old.
Born on August 13, 1959 in Easton, Maryland to the late Severn "Reidie" Mister, Sr. and Virginia Mister (Dreslinski). He attended Talbot County Public Schools before beginning a career as a Waterman. Following the death of his father, he assumed the family business, Tilghman Island Crabs, and continued to work on the water during the winter months. In 1999, he began his career with Maryland Environment Services on Poplar Island as an equipment operator and later as a mechanic.
During his free time, Scott enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed cutting grass and performing small engine repairs for members of the community. Scott was known to his neighbors as the "Tilghman Beach Handyman" as he performed various jobs for the neighborhood. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Scott's kindness knew no bounds and was dearly loved by family, friends and the community. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deborah Backover Mister, his four children, Josh Mister (Katie), Daniel Mister (Emma), Sara Mister, and Caroline Mister (Casey), five grandchildren, Donnie, Finley, Lila, Virginia, and Sheldon. He is also survived by one sister, Shawna Gottleib (Jeff), three brothers, Steve Mister (Dawn), Shayne Mister (Terri), and Severn Mister (Lois), one uncle, Billy Mister (Beverlee), his brother-in-law Bobby Backover (Anne) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sheldon Mister.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Tilghman Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the Tilghman Island Fire Department immediately following the services. The burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks any donations be sent to Saint Michaels Little League or Talbot Softball Little League.
