Sharon Lynn Helgason's Obituary
Sharon “Lynn” Helgason passed away peacefully in Talbot Hospice with her family by her side on Sunday, February 24, 2019 in Easton, Maryland at the age of 61.
Lynn is survived by her former husband, Donald Helgason Jr., as well as her children, Donald Helgason III, Stacy Helgason, David Helgason, and her two grandchildren Tanner and Casey Helgason. She is preceded in death by both her parents, Richard and LaRue McNew and her daughter Molly Helgason.
Lynn was born on April 8, 1957 in Annapolis, Maryland to Richard and LaRue McNew. She graduated from Salisbury State College in 1979 with a degree in Social Work. After moving to St. Michaels in 1980, Lynn began working for local public and private schools as a teacher, substitute and instructional assistant, and enjoyed her most recent job at Harbor Lights in St. Michaels. Any chance she could get, she enjoyed spending time with her kids, family and time spent at the beach. Her children remember her as a fun, loving, proud, and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in St. Michaels, MD with a reception to follow at Harbor Lights Restaurant in St. Michaels, immediately following the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lynn's life. In lieu of donations, please send flowers to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church by care of Swan Cove.
