Sharon Lynn Shields' Obituary
Sharon Lynn Shields of Bridgeville, DE, went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2019.
She was born on October 1, 1948 in Milford, Delaware, the daughter of the late Donald Carey and Margaret Wolfgang Carey.
Growing up in Sussex County, she attended Sussex Central High School. Later, she started a life-long career at Allen Family Foods, where she retired as a quality control supervisor after 31 years of faithful service.
Sharon was a hard worker, she loved her family, and would do anything for them; even if that meant doing without for herself. She loved family gatherings, cookouts, and fellowship many times included her famous chicken and dumplings. Although she loved to cook, she also enjoyed making ceramics, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Sharon loved animals, and had a heart for her beloved dog “Bane” and her cat “Fatty”. She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Church in Laurel, De. where she volunteered in the kitchen many times for Delmarva Teen Challenge and other functions.
Sharon is survived by two children, Raymond Justice, III and his fiancée Oliva Newman of Exmore, VA, and Wendy Willey, and her husband Shawn of Bridgeville, De.
Seven grandchildren, Brooke Justice, Devon Justice, Courtney Willey, Skylar Justice, Braden Justice, Rory Newman, and Sutton Newman. She is also survived by her four siblings, Donald Carey, Jr. and wife Kathy of Dagsboro, Jackie Timmons and husband Jerry of Dagsboro, Denise Rust and husband Rusty of Millsboro, and Richard Carey and wife Diane of Selbyville, De. Also, her companion, Maurice Figgs of Westover, Maryland.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 1:00pm at Abundant Life Christian Church. 28714 Seaford Road, Laurel, Delaware, with her son-in-law, Pastor Shawn Willey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Abundant Life Christian Church, 28714 Seaford Road, Laurel, DE 19956 or to the Brandywine Valley SPCA Shelter and Animal Health Center, 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
