Shirley Walter Gale's Obituary
Shirley Walter Gale made her journey to God’s heavenly Kingdom on April 17, 2018. Shirley was born in Elizabeth, N.J. on July 16, 1935 to Edgar G. Walter and Mary A. Spitzberger Walter. Shirley moved to Westmont N.J. and graduated from Collingswood High School in 1952. Shirley then attended the Goldey-Beacon Business College in Wilmington, DE. Following graduation she worked in secretarial positions in Camden and Westmont N.J.
Shirley met and married August P. Gale of Vienna, MD in 1956. Together they moved to Federalsburg, MD in 1960, and started to raise a loving family. Their son Michael was active in the Boy Scouts attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, their daughter Alice played in the marching band at Colonel Richardson High School. Shirley was an active member of Union United Methodist Church singing in the Chancel Choir, participating in the United Methodist Women, the Progressive Homemakers, and the Blessings Team. Following the passing of August in 1988, Shirley built a home in Salisbury MD and moved from Federalsburg in 2002.
While in Salisbury, Shirley engaged her crafty side and enjoyed the company of her friends by being active in a variety of groups within the community and her new home church of Asbury United Methodist. Shirley especially enjoyed being active in various civic clubs, and in the Sisters of Spirit at Asbury Church.
Shirley is survived by her son Michael D. Gale and his wife Kellean of Willis, Va.; and her daughter Alice G. Waclo and her husband Rev. Kenneth Waclo, and granddaughters Abigale and Mary Waclo of Gloucester, Va.
A celebration of life will be held at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, on April 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. A time of viewing and visitation will precede the service at 1 p.m. A service of committal will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg.
