Shirley Prettyman Haddaway's Obituary
Easton- Shirley P. Haddaway died on Monday December 11, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 96.
Born in Easton, MD. on October 19,1927 she was the daughter of the late John and Helen May Prettyman. Shirley grew up on Tilghman Island. She attended public school in Tilghman, and graduated from St. Michaels High School in June 1944. She then worked at various places in the Bay Hundred area to include Tilghman Packing Co. Tilghman Ice & Fuel and Schlag's Gladiola Farm, before taking a position with the U.S. Postal service as a Postal Clerk, retiring after 27 years of service. On February 15, 1946 she married George O. Haddaway, they made their home in Wittman.
Miss Shirley as she was known by all who knew her is survived by four children; George O. Haddaway, Jr. Wayne Haddaway (Connie) Elizabeth H. Dise all of Easton and Lynn Bridges (Perry) of North Carolina. 9 Grandchildren; Tommy Haddaway (Donna), Ryan Haddaway (Tasha), Heidi Barnes (Steve), Scott Haddaway (Krissy), Barbara Dise Yurko (David), Angela Dise Mitchell (Brandon), Kari Mullen (Rob), Christy Henderson (Tom), and Michael Bridges (Lindsey). 15 Great-Grandchildren; Toby Haddaway, Austin Haddaway, Kain Haddaway, Haven Haddaway, Jayden Haddaway, Trace Haddaway, Gavin Lars Yurko, Hayden Thor Yurko, Emma Welter, Taylor Mitchell, Ascher Mitchell, Maddie Henderson, Dalton Henderson, Mason Bridges, and Ozzie Bridges. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 siblings; John Prettyman, Bill Prettyman, Virginia Ann Prettyman, and Betty Black, and a grandson Brandon Mitchell.
A celebration of life will be held at the Tilghman Methodist Church, Tilghman, MD. On Tuesday December 19, 2023 at 2:00PM where the family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM.
Burial will be private.
