Stanley Anthony Zelenski's Obituary
Stanley Anthony Zelenski, also known as “Stash” or “Lefty”, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD. He was 84 years old.
He was born Feb. 10, 1925 on Long Island, NY the son of the late John Antone Zelenski and Eva M. Sobocinski Zelenski. His wife of 56 years, Julia Olive Curtin Zelenski, preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 2006.
He served his country in WW II in the U. S. Navy, serving from 1943 to 1946, earning the rank of Seaman First Class. He was a manager in the restaurant business for over 40 years. He and his wife were former owners of The Village Inn in Federalsburg. He had also been the manager of the Colmar Manor American Legion Post 131. “Lefty” was not only an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins, he was an avid fan of his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling many miles to watch them play in their various sporting events. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking.
He is survived by four daughters, Judy Hunt (Tom) of Greenbackville, VA, Stephanie Zelenski of Frankfort, DE, Denise Sapienza (Joe) of LaPlata, MD, and Dawn Quinton (Cody) of Harmony, MD; 7 grandchildren, Stacy and Chris Humphries, Tommy Hunt, Nicole and J. B. Sapienza, and Caitlin and Mikayla Quinton; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Ian Moynihan, Hunter Humphries, and baby Hunt who will arrive in February; 2 sisters, Doris Schlueter of Wilmington, NC, and Shirley Brannan of TN, several nieces and nephews, and a dear friend of the family, Amy Reiner. A sister Frances Fiege preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 24 at 12 noon at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
