Stanley H., Sr. Sanders' Obituary
Stanley H. Sanders, Sr. of Preston, MD passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 86 years old.
He was born Jan. 24, 1921 in Catonsville, MD, the son of the late Harry L. and Helen Smink Sanders.
He served our country from 1942 to 1947 as a WW II Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Richard P. Leary. He had worked for the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC for 15 years, retiring in 1983. He loved baseball and in younger years had coached Little League. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston, where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty M. Ledley Sanders, whom he married on Sept. 1, 1943, a son Stanley H. Sanders, Jr. and his wife, Garon L., of Easton, a grandson, David R. Sanders of Easton, brother-in-law, Walter Ledley of Catonsville, MD, a sister-in-law, Margaret Ledley of Baltimore, 3 nephews, George Ledley of Catonsville,
Michael Ledley of Ellicott City, MD, and Bruce Ledley of Sherman Oaks, CA, and a niece Carol Becker of Woodland Hills, CA. A brother, Emil Sanders, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Wed. April 25, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. David Heistand officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
