Stengle K. Watkins' Obituary
Stengle Koehler Watkins, passed away at home on Saturday, October 19, 2024, 7 days after his 96th birthday.
He was born on October 12, 1928, the son of the late Harley Guy Watkins and Susie Elizabeth Townsend Watkins.
He was a Navy veteran, serving on a destroyer during the Korean War. A tri-state dart champion, his APA pool teams went to Vegas numerous times to compete, an aerospace machinist, avid joke and storyteller, and was still playing in his weekly poker games a week before he passed, and his dancing has been compared to Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. Stengle loved old country music and would play the bones with his brothers who played guitar and bass. He was also a member of many fraternal organizations.
Stengle is survived by his daughter Phyllis Towers and her husband Randy, son Michael Watkins, son Guy Watkins and his wife Reneé, and daughter Mary Watkins.
Grandchildren; Emily Kellogg Smith, Jimi Kellogg, Jason Kellogg, Thomas Adamski, Julia Adamski, Andrew Watkins, Michele Watkins, Casey Reider, and Daniel Reider.
Great grandchildren; Derek Smith, Dale Smith, Skylar Kellogg, Cloe Kellogg, James Kellogg, Sabrina Adamski, Damian Adamski, Felicia League, Dustin Benton, Desirea Martin, Cadence Watkins, and Gibson Watkins.
Stengle married twice. First to Joyce Dean, which ended in divorce, and Second to Barbara Nelson, also ending in divorce.
Stengle was preceded in death by his 21 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Framptom Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Federalsburg, MD 21632. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at McKendree Cemetery in Rhodesdale, MD.
