Douglas Timbrell
Steve was a friend of our family for as long as I can remember—a steady, kind, and generous presence. As I grew up, he became a mentor who didn’t just teach me construction, but modeled what it meant to be dependable, hardworking, and patient. The job he gave me wasn’t just about learning tools and technique—it was about learning life.
I’ll always remember how our workdays began with a stop at our favorite doughnut shop, “Doughnut Town.” Like clockwork, as we climbed into the work truck, Steve would bellow out, “Next stop, Doughnut Town!” like a train conductor setting off on a grand journey. It was such a small thing, but it captured so much of who he was—joyful, lighthearted, and always making the ordinary feel special.
Steve had a gift for seeing potential in others and helping them rise to it. His influence helped shape the person I’ve become, and his absence will be deeply felt.
