Sterling Edward Payne passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home in Federalsburg following a long illness on June 7, 2026. He was 79 years old.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg starting at Noon. His family will receive friends and relatives during a visitation for one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be private in Hillcrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions are asked to be made to Caroline County EMS, or to Framptom Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
