Steven Callaway Harrison's Obituary
It is with great regret that the family of Steven Callaway Harrison announce his death on October 10, 2017 after a seven-month battle with cancer. Steve was born on June 26, 1949 in Easton, Maryland, and grew up on the Miles River in St. Michaels, Maryland. He had a wonderful boyhood, duck hunting, crabbing, fishing and driving his 1957 Corvette - "The fastest car on the Eastern Shore". He graduated from Easton High School in 1967, and from East Carolina University in 1972. He went on to attain a degree in social work and had a more than thirty-year career as a clinical Social Worker (LCSW), counseling patients in private practice, a managed-care company, and lastly, at the University of Maryland. He enjoyed the Orioles, travel, the Eastport Yacht Club, and before his marriage, hanging out at Marmadukes. He was predeceased by his father, H. Callaway Harrison. He leaves behind his wife, Janice Harrison, his mother, Mary Harrison, sister and brother-in-law Marsha and Tom Waudby, niece and nephew Jenny and Sam Kemp, and many friends and co-workers, some of whom traveled long distances to visit him when they learned of his illness. He was a person of whom it could truly be said, "If you knew him, you liked him". His family and friends will miss him deeply. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. For all those who would like to remember Steve with us, there will be a gathering of friends on Sunday, October 22 from 1pm to 3pm at Chesapeake Landing Restaurant, St. Michaels Road, St. Michaels, MD.
