Susan Ann Arner's Obituary
Susan Ann Arner, or as some know her- Suesue, of Greenwood, DE went home to Jesus on Thursday, August 8th, 2024. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing" (2 Timothy 4: 7-8). She received her crown and met her Savior, Jesus, face-to-face at the age of 65.
She was born and raised in Sussex County Delaware to Harold and Bernice Arner. She was a dedicated daughter who loved and faithfully cared for her parents. She actively helped in their bookstore, Arner's Christian Supply Center, and Meme's Daycare. She honored her parents and was their true pride and joy.
Susan loved her career as a nurse. She was hired as an LPN for Nanticoke Hospital in 1979. She transferred to Genesis Lofland Park in 1992 where she continued to work until June of 2024. She was knowledgeable and skilled at her care for others. She loved her patients and co-workers well and they loved her.
Susan also loved her church. She was one of the founding members of Denton Wayside CCCU where she attended since 1975. She loved to worship her Savior through song and was the church's gifted piano player for almost 50 years. She served as a Sunday school teacher and Church Extensions Representative. She was an active member of the music committee, activity committee, and board member. Susan was passionate about her church and church family.
Susan had many enjoyments. She loved attending Southern Gospel concerts with her family and friends. She could always be found making sweet treats for the quartet members. She also loved the show, "I Love Lucy". She often laughed at Lucy's endeavors and compared Lucy and Ethel's friendship with that of her and her best friend of 63 years, Christine Weaber. Another huge enjoyment of Susan's was her cats. She was known by many as the "cat lady" because of her special affection for cats. Her cats were her children and brought her so much joy and comfort.
While she had no children or grandchildren of her own, she loved to spoil her godchildren: Katelyn Sasso, and Joel and Rebekah Harding. She also showered love on the children and grandchildren of Carol and Bud Allman and Christine and Lee Weaber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bernice Arner, and brother, Ronald Harold Arner.
She is survived by both Lare and Arner family members throughout the United States.
Susan loved Jesus and people. She took care of all those around her. Her testimony for her Lord and Savior remained faithful and strong until she stepped into eternity with Him.
Many thanks to the staff at Penn Medicine of Philadelphia, PA and Lofland Park of Seaford, DE for their loving care.
