Sylvia Griffith Daubach's Obituary
Sylvia Griffith Daubach, a native of St. Michaels, passed from this life on November. 24, 2024 after a courageous battle with lung disease.
She was born on September 29, 1937 in Easton, MD and was the daughter of William J. and Clara E. Griffith.
Sylvia graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1955. She met her husband Herbert when they were both employed at Maryland Credit Finance Corporation in Easton, MD. They were married in 1959 and made their home in St. Michaels where they raised their children and enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Herb's death in 2010.
Sylvia worked in the secretarial field most of her life. After retiring from Higgins and Spencer, Inc. she worked several part-time jobs, the last at McCords Laundry in St. Michaels.
Sylvia enjoyed many hobbies that included music, reading, gardening, crocheting, and especially hand quilting. She was one of the original members of the Nifty Needles Quilting Guild.
She was a long time member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the Senior Choir for more than 40 years. She and her husband Herb organized and directed the first hand bell choir of St. Luke's.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sylvia was happiest when her children were around her.
Sylvia is survived by her son Bryan Daubach (Robin); her daughter Dana Haddaway (Doug) with whom she made her home in later years; and her step-daughter Vanessa Sandlin (DuWane); her grandchildren Wayne Daubach (Christine), Ashleigh Daubach, Jessica Kastel, Kati Murphy (Jim), and Ben Sandlin (Lonnie); her granddaughter-in-law Amanda Daubach; her great-grandchildren Abbye Daubach, Brooke Daubach, Ethan Daubach, Colin Daubach, Chance Kastel, Jimmy Murphy, Jack Sandlin, and Brett Sandlin; and her goddaughter Susan Merriken.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Herbert, and her brothers Harold (Elnora) and Vernon (Pat) Griffith; and her grandson Brooks Daubach.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Saint Michaels, MD starting at 11am. A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 10am. Burial will follow in Olivet Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the "Organ Fund" at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Saint Michaels, MD.
