Sylvia Holder's Obituary
Sylvia Swift Holder, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1945, in Macclesfield, North Carolina. She later moved to the Eastern Shore and graduated from North Dorchester High School in 1963. As the only child of the late Willard D. and Edna W. Swift, the friendships she made in school became a lifelong source of joy and belonging.
Sylvia spent many years at Maryland Plastics, Inc. in Federalsburg, Maryland, where she worked until her retirement. After that, she proudly fulfilled her dream of becoming a business owner when she purchased Curves of Seaford. For eight years, Curves was much more than a fitness center. It became a place of encouragement, laughter, and true friendship for the women she cherished so deeply.
She later worked part-time at Redner's Market and The Curiosity Shop, a project of Soroptimist International of Seaford, DE, Inc., where she was also a former member. Whether she was helping customers or chatting with co-workers, Sylvia had a way of making people feel noticed and valued. She carried that same warmth into all her relationships and always connected easily with people from every walk of life. The kindness she poured into others came back to her in abundance and filled her with happiness.
Sylvia held traditional values close and treasured simple, steady routines. She loved gathering her family around the table for Sunday dinners, which often led to a spirited game of cards. She was also a woman of strong convictions. She took pride in her country and followed current events closely, always ready to share her thoughts with honesty and passion.
During her final year at Lofland Park Center in Seaford, Sylvia formed many meaningful bonds with both residents and caregivers. Her love of painting and crafting was renewed during this time, and she enjoyed expressing herself through the things she made.
Above all, Sylvia's faith grounded her and shaped the genuine kindness she offered so freely. She believed deeply in the promise of Heaven, and her family finds comfort in imagining her reunited with her beloved husband, George Edward Holder, Sr., embracing and swaying together once again on the streets of gold.
Sylvia will be forever remembered by her three children: George Edward Holder, Jr. (RaeAnn), Kimberly Danielle Holder, and Sherri Jean Holder (Scott Towers); her grandchildren Amber B. Woodland (Justin), Jacquelyn Rae Holder, Alexis Holder Zdrojewski (Eddie), Connor J. Cooper (Mindi), and Hunter Towers; and her great-grandchildren Layla B. Woodland, Brad Zdrojewski, Holden Zdrojewski, Croix J. Cooper, and Banks N. Cooper.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A., 216 North. Main Street, Federalsburg, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
