Sylvia Betty Hughson's Obituary
Sylvia Betty Brinsfield Hughson of Cambridge, MD passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Dorchester General Hospital. She was 84 years old.
She was born October 26, 1924 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Milbourne B. Brinsfield and Katie E. Donoho Brinsfield. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles Wallace “Wally” Hughson on May 7, 2007.
She was a graduate of Hurlock High School class of 1942. She had previously been a secretary and homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cambridge where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library, the Dorchester County Historical Society, the Women’s Club of Cambridge, and the Dorchester Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed working and doing research on her family genealogy.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Kenneth Williams and his wife, Jean of Hurlock, Joyce Towers of Seaford, Steven Williams and his wife Georgia of Cambridge, and Jane Dukes and her husband, Larry of Hurlock. Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Williams and Shirley Watterson and a brother, Dean Brinsfield.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1 pm at Brookview United Methodist Church with Rev. Delmer Willey officiating. Interment was private at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery.
