Sylvia Jeanne Purdham's Obituary
Sylvia Jeanne Purdham of Federalsburg, MD went to be with her Lord on Wed. Dec. 9, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 70 years old.
She was born Feb. 23, 1939 in Cordele, GA, the daughter of the late Rev. W. Grady Cox and Ruth S. Lavender Cox.
She was a homemaker. Sylvia was an active leader in Boy and Girl Scouts, and she served as president of the PTA at North Glenn Elementary School in Pasadena. She was active in church camp, acting as Dean of Girls and Counselor. She also served as worship leader for both her husband and father and was active in church from the age of 13. She was a member of Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rev. Harry Lee Purdham, Jr., whom she married on June 13, 1959, 4 children, Harry Lee Purdham, III of Westover, MD and mother of his children Jane Trapp of Federalsburg, Debra Jean Purdham of North Richland Hill, TX, Michelle Ann Purdham of Federalsburg, and Penny Lynn Wright of Pasadena, MD; 8 grandchildren Michael Martin, William Grady Purdham, Mark Alan Purdham, Jr., Harry Lee Purdham, IV, Bethany Wright, Amanda Wright, Sabrina Wright, and Dana Crabtree, 2 great-grandchildren Kaylei and Kylie Martin, and a brother Wesley G. Cox, Jr. of Ashburn, VA. A son, Mark Alan Purdham preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2004.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg with Bishop Ray Parsons officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m..
