Tanya Barker Edwards' Obituary
Tanya Barker Edwards, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Easton on December 25, 2025. She was 93.
Tanya was loved by all who knew her. She opened her heart to friends and strangers alike and was known for her strong faith, extraordinary sense of humor, playful practical jokes, radiant smile, and the many laughs she shared with others.
Born in New Jersey to Janet and George Barker, Tanya grew up in the Morristown area. She met the love of her life and future husband, Don Edwards, on the beach in Mantoloking, New Jersey, when they were just 15 and 17 years old. They were inseparable from that day forward. Tanya attended Kent Place School and Centenary Junior College in Hackettstown, New Jersey.
Following their marriage in 1953, Tanya and Don lived briefly in Washington, D.C., and Connecticut before returning to the Morristown area. In 1967, they moved to Fox Chapel, a northern suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they spent 20 years raising their four children.
After Don's retirement, their shared love of the water led them to Maryland's Eastern Shore in 1987. Both became active in real estate sales in the St. Michaels area, where Tanya's success and genuine care for her clients earned her the honor of Talbot County Realtor. During their four decades on the Eastern Shore, Tanya and Don lived in Bozman, Royal Oak, St. Michaels, and Easton, forming close and lasting friendships in each community.
Tanya is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Donald Edwards; her children, Donald Edwards Jr., George Leland Edwards, Robert Barker Edwards, and Dana Beth Edwards; and six grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called her "Mikey."
Details about a celebration of Tanya's life will be shared at a later date.
