Terry Palmer's Obituary
Terry Wallace Palmer, 77 departed this life Sunday, August 25,2024 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Delmar, DE. Terry was the youngest of six born to his parents the late John and Ruth Palmer, in Seaford, Delaware, December 12, 1946.
Terry grew up attending Bethel United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, Maryland. Terry attended public school in Seaford, Delaware and was enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1966 - 1968.
Terry was fondly known to his friends as Mr. " TWIP"; Terry was a man with many talents. Terry knew how to build furniture, paint, draw, sew, airbrush murals, paint 16-wheeler trucks, creating designs on wood, metal, and spoons. Car dealership windows, and paint designs on clothing. Terry was creating designer clothing before real designer businesses even had a clue. He was always a step ahead when it came to creativity. One year Terry painted flowers on his Volkswagen with all different colors of shoe polish and entered in a contest and won a car. He won an Opal GT 1970. Terry was the original designer of the Corvette. Yes, the car the Corvette! Terry, entered a contest in 1960/1961 and in the mail he received a letter stating that he won the contest, but explaining that he was too young to have enter, and sent him a plaque; "Congratulations". Now in 1962 the first generation Corvette known as the C1 was produced, and the C2 was introduced in 1970 known as the "Sting Ray". Terry also designed the Seaford Senior High School Mascot, The Blue Jay, the name and mascot which is on all class rings, shirts, and all high school paraphernalia (accessories) pertaining to Seaford School District.
Terry was a member of the US Army; after which he studied art & design at Delaware State College. He was a member of the Groove Phi Groove and his mark on campus; he made jewelry, vanity tags and painted the hornet mascot on the gym floor. He taught classes at Delaware Tech South campus in Georgetown, Delaware. Terry "Mr. Twip" was truly the "GOAT" (The Greatest Of All Times). Years later Terry moved to California; painting and detailing cars for celebrities for 2 years. Terry lived a good life, he said so himself.
Terry was predeceased by his father John, his mother Ruth, his sisters Virginia, Phyllis, and his brother Carroll Palmer. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Anna Mortimer and a multitude of special friends.
