Thomas Henry Hughes' Obituary
Thomas Henry Hughes of Hurlock, MD passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at
Salisbury Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Salisbury, MD. He was 67.
He was born Oct. 23, 1943 near Preston, MD, the son of the late Daniel J. Hughes, Sr. and Lula R. Quailes Hughes.
“Talking Tom” as he was affectionately known by, graduated from Maces Lane High School Class of 1963. He had worked for the former Acme Cannery and Decceco’s, and was presently employed by Amick Farms. He had two quotes that he often spoke, “Show me what you’re working with,” and “Watch yourself.” He enjoyed winnings at the slots in Harrington and loved people.
He is survived by his wife Glenda Francine Palmer Hughes, five siblings, Daniel Hughes, Jr. (Gertrude Rivers) of Hurlock, Roy Hughes of Wye Mills, Peggy Macer of Thompsontown, Edna Hughes of Salisbury, Samuel Hughes of Cambridge, many nieces and nephews, devoted in-laws: Walter “Yogi” Palmer of Elwood, Diane Palmer, Jeff Palmer, Maria Mouring (Lee), Evonne Palmer, Karen Palmer, Theresa (Larry Waller), an aunt, Regina Hughes of Hurlock, and a good friend Kenny “Guitar Man” Magee of Federalsburg. Besides his parents, two brothers preceded him in death, Charles Hughes and William “Bill” Hughes.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. Feb. 26, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Church of
God of Prophecy on Austin Street in Federalsburg with Pastor Wanda Lake officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery near Hurlock. Friends may call at the church on Sat. from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m.
