Valerie Annette Farlow Sanchez's Obituary
Valerie Annette Farlow Sanchez went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2015 at her home in Bear, DE. She was 50 years old.
She was born in Seaford, DE on January 20, 1965 the daughter of the late Charlie E. Rembert and Beatrice Frances Farlow. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mattie Farlow of Laurel, DE and Raymond Mills of Seaford, DE.
Valerie spent her early childhood in Boston, Massachusetts later returning to Laurel, DE. She was enrolled in the Delmar School District graduating from Delmar Jr.-Sr. High School in 1983 and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She graduated from the cosmetology program at the Vo-Tech Center in Georgetown, DE and pursued a lifelong passion of doing nails and makeup for others. She worked for the former Jamesway Company, Vlasic Foods, Brandywine Zoo and various retail stores over the years.
Following graduation she married and traveled as a military wife living in Germany, California and Colorado Springs. Her interests included going to concerts and her favorite genre of music was hard rock and heavy medal. She loved to shop, especially for clothes, and was everyone’s clothes stylist. She also enjoyed going to the movies and the beach. Valerie loved her family and her greeting to her many nieces and nephews was “let Aunt Val have your cheek” and she would plant a kiss on the recipient leaving a big lipstick mark. She was free spirited and an adventurer loving to take on new experiences. She was extremely generous wanting to help everyone that she could, even if it meant giving her last dime. She never met a stranger. Valerie will be remembered as outgoing and having a big heart filled with love for everyone.
She leaves to cherish her memory her Aunt Mattie Farlow and Uncle Raymond Mills. Children Keren and Sunday Sanchez of Laurel, DE and Elijah Sanchez of Delmar, DE. Siblings Dr. Trudy Hammond of Delmar, MD; Angela Young (Gregory) of Hebron, MD; Ursula Farlow of Salisbury, MD; Andre Farlow of Laurel, DE; Cassandra Armwood of Delmar, DE; Charles (Herkie) Strand of Kentucky; Tisha Rembert Powell of Wilmington, DE; Freddie Rembert and Demetris Rembert (Adair) of Seaford, DE; Monique Sampson (Rayfield) and Cynthia Lopez (Luis) of Delmar, DE; Raymona Mills of Laurel, DE; and, Sharlene Mills of Smithfield, Tennesee. She leaves three grandchildren An’yah, Sy’meer and Kasen Sanchez. Aunts, Clara Hunt and Bernice Walters of Laurel, DE; a sister-in-law, Wanda Farlow of Seaford, DE; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ginger Farlow; aunts, Lottie Farlow and Helen Williams; and, grandparents, Clara and Daniel Farlow.
Funeral services for her will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Refuge Temple Church of God in Seaford with Rev. Leroy Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Laurel. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m on Saturday. .
