Vera Belinda Worm's Obituary
Vera Belinda Worm, a long time resident of Preston, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury surrounded by her family. She was 57.
She was born August 22, 1953 at Memorial Hospital in Easton, the daughter of Vera Worm and the late William F. Worm of Preston.
“Belinda”, as she was known by her family and friends, graduated from Colonel Richardson High School in Federalsburg by 1974. She was a client at Chesapeake Rehabilitaion Center in Easton for over 20 years where she was known as “Vera” and made many lifetime friends while working in the bakery and kitchen. For many years she successfully competed in Special Olympics. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston where she was baptized and confirmed, and she often enjoyed helping out with the children’s crafts during Vacation Bible School. Belinda loved attending family functions and traveling on trips with her mother and aunts. In 2009, she became a resident of Dove Pointe in Salisbury where she was welcomed by a new set of friends and compassionate caregivers to whom she was known as “Miss Vera”.
Belinda’s life was continuously blessed with loving family members, caring friends and selfless caregivers. In turn she shared with us her wonderful smile, her humor and her strong spirit. She will be missed by many whose lives she touched in some small way.
She is survived by her mother, Vera Worm of Preston, her sister and brother-in-law, Shelly and Larry Kapitan of Preston, her Godparents, Ethel and Wilber Engle, also of Preston, and many cousins, aunts, and an uncle.
She was preceded in death by her father, William F. Worm, whom she loved dearly, and who passed away in 1979.
A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2011. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery.
