Vernon E Miles' Obituary
Vernon E Miles of Easton passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Talbot Hospice House. He was 73.
He was born on December 30, 1943 in Newcastle, PA, the son of the late Russell T Miles and Gertrude Hamel Miles.
He graduated from St. Michaels High School with the class of 1961. On September 11, 1965 he married Rose Swartz Miles. After his education he pursued a lifelong career in commercial heating and air conditioning. He taught HVAC classes at Anne Arundel Community College. He worked for J.R. Barton and DL Dewbury until his retirement in 2012.
He was a communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton for many years. An avid bowler, he enjoyed various leagues over the years. He was inducted into the Eastern Shore Bowling hall of fame. He also enjoyed fishing, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Miles of Easton, four children, Vernon E. Miles, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Easton, David Miles and his partner Duane Kidwell of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Rebecca Banay of Preston, and Joseph Miles and his wife Mistie of Cocoa, FL; eighteen grandchildren, Rachel Gowe and her husband Bobby, Jimmy Miles, Matthew Miles, Noah Bliss, Hannah Miles, Nicholas Miles, Emilie Miles, Jackson Baney, Adrianna Baney, Brady Baney Conor Miles, Michael Greenwood, Wilma Kosakowski, Danny Stormes, C.J. Stormes, Eric Kidwell, Brandon Kidwell and Justin Stormes; fifteen great-grandchildren: Tucker Miles, Paris Chilcutt, James Chilcutt, Hadley Gowe, Gabriel Greenwood, Griffith Greenwood, Lily Greenwood, Kayla Christopher, Baylie Christopher, Ethan Stormes, Madyson Stormes, Ryleigh Stormes, Hannah Stormes, Jerimiah Stormes and Kaleb Stormes; three siblings, Elverta Westcott of York, PA, Louis Larrimore of Easton, and Ronald Miles of Federalsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffry Miles, two brothers, Burton Miles and Neil Miles, and one sister, Jeanette Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton. Interment will follow at New Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton,. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church.
