Violet M. Thomas' Obituary
Violet Marie Thomas of Preston, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. She was 84.
She was born on June 19, 1923 in Laurel Fork, Virginia, the daughter of the late James Albert Alderman and Shrilda Keene Alderman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Olin Thomas, Sr. on November 5, 2000.
She graduated from Preston High School class of 1941. She and her late husband had a dairy farm, along with growing vegetables and raising poultry. She also had worked at Fearins Insurance Agency in Preston and Leah’s Bridal Shop in Easton. She was a member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by two sons, Wilbert Olin Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Neva, of Manassas, VA, William Robert Thomas, Sr. and his wife, Linda of Preston, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Sutphin, and two brothers, Mack and Melvin Alderman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Glenn A. Staehli, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday. Serving as pallbearers will be William R. Thomas, Jr., John North, Jeff Cronshaw, Wilbert Olin Thomas, III, Leslie Robert Thomas, Donald Andrew Thomas, and serving as honorary pallbearers will be Fred Stafford Jr., and Robert Taylor.
