Virgil E. Simms, Jr.'s Obituary
Virgil Emanuel Simms, Jr. “Chubby” of Cambridge, Maryland passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland. He was 46.
He was born November 7, 1962 in Cambridge, Maryland, son of Virgil Simms, Sr. of Hurlock and the late Catherine Butler Simms.
He graduated from North Dorchester High School Class of 1981. He later worked at Roses Department Store and most recently for Delmarva Community as a caretaker. He was baptized and attended Greater Mount Zion Holiness Church in Bethlehem. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved playing basketball, horseshoes, drawing, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Virgil Simms, Jr. and Barbara Simms of Hurlock, two sons, Virgil Simms, III of Cambridge, Maryland and Terrance Simms of Delaware, two daughters, Valanda Simms and Tyshon Simms both of Cambridge, 11 grandchildren, and three siblings, Vincent Simms and his wife Laverne of Hurlock, Vaughn Simms and his wife Karen of Jackson, MS, and Vicole Simms of Hurlock, and his loving companion, Goldia Chandler of Cambridge.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 12:00 noon at Greater Mount Zion Holiness Church in Bethlehem. The Bishop Chester Friend will officiate. Interment will follow at Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may visit the church from 10:00am to 12:00 noon on Friday.
