Virginia Zirckel ("Ginny") MacLeod's Obituary
Virginia Z. MacLeod Virginia Zirckel MacLeod (Ginny); of St. Michaels, died at the Caroline Hospice House in Denton on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Born on February 5, 1924 she was the daughter of the Henry Lewis and Elizabeth Grace Atkins Zirckel. Ginny grew up in Baltimore, and graduated from Eastern High School in 1941. She then attended the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with her R.N in 1946. She married William Peyton MacLeod that same year, and together they raised their six children in Baltimore. They retired to St. Michaels in 1982. Mr. Macleod died on September 1, 1997. As a nurse, Ginny worked in Labor and Delivery at Sinai for many years before moving to Johns Hopkins Hospital where she worked in Family Planning with Dr. Hugh Davis for more than 20 years. In retirement she traveled widely, played bridge avidly, and read extensively. Mrs. Macleod was active in Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michaels, serving as President and Secretary of the Episcopal Church Women, and as a member of the Docents Guild. She also volunteered for Talbot Hospice. Ginny is survived by her children and their spouses; William P. Macleod (Wanda), Susan M. Tandlmayer (Terry), Warren H. MacLeod (Michele), Owen G. MacLeod (Shirley), B. Scott MacLeod (partner, James Houston), and David B. Macleod (Suzanne). Her grandchildren; Jason MacLeod (Jessie), Sara Orrell (Ron), Patrick MacLeod, Matthew Tandlmayer, Christopher Tandlmayer (Katie), Erin Bartlett (Alex), Andrew MacLeod, and Richie MacLeod; and her Great grandchildren; Ian MacLeod, Colin MacLeod, Braxton Orrell, Emily Orrell, John (Jack) Bartlett, Virginia (Ginny)Bartlett, and Spencer MacLeod. She was preceded in death by a brother; Henry Louis Zirckel, Jr., and a grandson; Michael MacLeod. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, St. Michaels on Friday September 9, 2016 at 11:00AM. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by the Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. 312 S.
