Virginia K. Towers
Easton, Virginia Katherine Towers of Easton, formerly of Trappe, died at Genesis HealthCare “the Pines” on Saturday, May 12, 2012. She was 93.
Born in Baltimore, Md. on August 13, 1918 she was the daughter of the late George W. and Marie Henning Saunders. After graduating from Trappe High School in 1935, she later married Percy A. Towers. Mrs. Towers worked at various places, but was mostly devoted to being a homemaker until fulfilling her dream of becoming a health care provider, when in the early 70’s she obtained her C.N.A. certification. She did private sitting and health care in Talbot Co. Following the death of her husband in 1977, Mrs. Towers continued to provide care as a nurse until she retired in 1983.
Mrs. Towers was a charter member of Faith Chapel U.M.C. in Bruceville.
Mrs. Towers is survived by three daughter; Gloria Wholey (John) of Gettysburg, PA., Virginia Carey of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Lynda L. James (Sol) of Easton, seven grandchildren; Cheryl Lea, Carol Bishop, Debbie McCarthy, Jennifer James, Solomon James, Monica Ray and Katherine Curry, and seven Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son; Wm. Rogers “Sonny” Towers, and a son-in-law; Bill Carey.
Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:00PM at the Hurley & Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. in St. Michaels. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday at the Faith Chapel U.M.C. Bruceville .
Burial will be in the Windy Hill Cemetery.
