Virginia K. "Ginger" Peck's Obituary
Virginia K. “Ginger” Smith Peck of Walton, NY and Zephyrhills, FL went to her peace Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 in Dade City, FL. She was 76 years old
She was born Aug. 30, 1932 in Walton, NY the daughter of the late John W. and Merle J. Salton Smith, the youngest of five children.
She was a graduate of Walton High School class of 1950 and had attended Westchester Community College and Albany Business School. She had worked at the former “Doc” Bush’s Dental Office after graduation. She was a homemaker. She had worked as an assessor for the Town of Walton for several years, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, toll painting and stenciling. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
Ginger was first a Christian, then loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Osgood K. “OK” Peck whom she married on Dec. 1, 1956, three children, Margery Kathryn “Kathy” Lee and her companion, Les Gardepe of Franklin, NY, William O. Peck and his wife, Cornelia, of Buffalo, NY, and Robert K. Peck, and his wife Katrina, of Mount Arlington, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Scobie of DeLancey, NY, Zachary Haverly of Gulf Port, MS, and Kyle Peck of Mt. Arlington, NJ; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Wright of DeLancey, a brother, J. Robert Smith of Walton, and a sister, Margaret Smith Hawkins of Federalsburg, MD, five nieces, Janie Hawkins Eskow, Betsy Webb Munn, Dr. Ann Smith McQuay, Ellen Webb Reinhardt, Nancy Webb Gleaton, and three nephews, Dr. John W. Hawkins, Mark Ver Valin, and David Ver Valin.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and their spouses Margery Lou and Richard C. Webb and Mary “Peachie” and Morris Ver Valin, sister-in-law, Doris S. Smith, brother-in-law Donald B. Hawkins, and niece, Dr. Mary Ellen Hawkins.
Graveside services and interment in Walton Cemetery will be at a later date. Arrangements by Framptom Funeral Home and Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Home.
