Wallace Franklin Glass' Obituary
Wallace Franklin Glass formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, passed away at home on May 24, 2017. He was born in Newark, NJ, on September 9, 1924 and moved to Point Pleasant Beach after being discharged from the United States Army in 1944. He served in the Pacific and in the occupation of Japan. He was a graduate of Barringer High School in Newark, NJ, and Seton Hall University with a degree in Economics.
He was a manager for Monroe Calculating Machine Co., a division of Litton Industries and received many awards as a salesman and manager. While living in New Jersey he served as President of the Garnet Gull booster Association, was elected to the Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education, became President and later the President of the Ocean County School Board Association. He also served as a delegate to the State Board of Education.
He relocated to his waterfront home in St. Michaels, Maryland in 1994 which was a magnet for his children, Christopher, Katherine, Matthew, Robert & Stephanie, their spouses and children. While in St. Michaels, he was instrumental in securing cable television for the greater St. Michaels area and additionally a coordinator for the state mosquito control. He enjoyed wildlife and spent many hours at the shoreline of his home observing the animals and birds.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine and all five of his children, eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and John Glass, brothers Jack, Kenneth, and Edward and granddaughter Catherine Rose Mackell.
He was cremated and will be interred in the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be made to the Talbot County Humane Society, 7894 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601.
