Walter Sherman Hicks Sr.'s Obituary
Walter Sherman Hicks, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, Maryland. He was 86.
He was born on January 26, 1929 in Harmony, Maryland, the son of the late William Henry Hicks, Sr. and Florence E. Kemp Hicks.
Mr. Hicks enjoyed fishing and working on small engine repair. He was an avid Orioles Baseball fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Minnie McNeal Hicks, five children, Arlene Govenali, Janet Dolby (Gary), Walter Hicks, Jr. (Bonnie), Danny Hicks, and Jeffery Hicks (Krissy), five grandchildren, Jena Hicks, Jacob Hicks, Hayden Hicks, Tailor Lord, and Stacie Pietras, three great-grandchildren, Haley, Derek, and Gavin Pietras.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston with the Rev. Howard “Buddy” Dunn officiating.
