Walter Yogi Palmer's Obituary
Walter “Yogi” Palmer, 83, departed this life on May 28, 2019 at the Pines in Easton, MD.
Walter was born in Seaford, Delaware to Solomon and Georgia Roberta Palmer.
Walter received his education in Sussex County, Delaware School System. Walter was known by a lot of people as, “Yogi”. He was a hardworking man. He was employed by Ellis Concrete in Federalsburg, as well as chicken plants in Federalsburg and Hurlock areas. He also did many other jobs as a mason. Walter loved doing all kinds of jobs to improve homes. He was a jack of all trades, a gardener, a mason, a mentor, a cook, a builder, and so much more.
On December 24, 1959, Walter united with Diane (Downes) Palmer in matrimony. They were blessed with seven children.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory seven children, Maria (Lawrence), Jeffrey, Glenda (George), Evonne (John), Karen (Bubby), Theresa (Larry), and Jimmy Downes, a sister, Doris Batson, nine grandchildren, April Bell (Randy), Dale Sampson Jr., James Thomas, Ayneshia Palmer, Shaniece and Ralph Dotson Jr., Sharonda Robinson (Lamont), Little Jimmy Jr., Jermaine Palmer, four great-grandchildren, Dizir Thomas, Jaqheim Bell, Tyquessa Evans, John Evans, one sister-in-law, Roberta McDownell, a devoted son-in-law, John Lake, and a host of family and friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife Diane Palmer, father and mother, Solomon and Georgia Roberta Palmer, two sisters, Joyce Johnson and Shirley Batson, two brothers, James Palmer and Wilmer Palmer, and his uncle, Namon Palmer, and a stepson, James (Jimmy) Downes.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 12pm at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD with Pastor Wanda Lake officiating. A visitation will be held from 11-12pm prior to the start of the service. Interment will be held at Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg, MD immediately following the service.
