Walter E. Saunders' Obituary
Walter E. Saunders Walter E. Saunders of Easton, died at his home on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was 83. Born in Trappe, MD; on September 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Bessie Smith Saunders. Mr. Saunders attended Talbot C. Public Schools. He then worked on the family farm. In 1953, he married Jane Keys, of St. Michaels. In 1954, he was drafted into the Army. Following his release from active duty in the 1960’s, he returned to Talbot Co. where he worked for Bayshore Foods in the Hatchery in Easton. In 1973, he joined Southern States Petroleum of Easton where he remained until his retirement in 1995. His wife died in April 2014. Mr. Saunders found enjoyment in wood-crafting, gardening, picking strawberries, and crabbing. He also followed the country music group “the Jones Boys†and danced at the Cambridge V.F.W. on Friday nights. He was an avid Orioles fan, and could be found most often at the Easton Hardees or McDonalds where he and his friends would enjoy early morning coffee. Mr. Saunders is survived by a daughter; Terri Snow and her husband Sonny of Cordova, three grandchildren; Ryan Snow, of Cordova, Darrell Shores and Faith Painter both of VA., and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Cottrill, 1 brother and 3 sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM at the Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A., St Michaels, on Friday, May 27, 2016, where a viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00AM Burial will be in Olivet Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to: the Talbot Bankers Relay for Life, C/O Dawn Henckel PO BOX 949 Easton MD 21601, that will benefit the American Cancer Society.
