William Bennett's Obituary
William F. Bennett, Jr., of Preston passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his home. He was 90.
He was born on September 21, 1932 in Drawbridge, Dorchester County, Maryland the son of the late William F. Bennett, Sr., and Naomi Willin Bennett.
He graduated from Preston High School with the class of 1949. He married Shirley Brown Bennett on December 27, 1952 and they made their home in Preston.
He farmed with his father and brother and later with his children for most all of his life. In 1966 he went to work for the former C & P Telephone Company as a lineman and splicer. He retired in 1992 and continued to farm with his grandson.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 70 years of Preston, five children: Brenda McCann and her husband Ron, Frankie Bennett and his wife Pam and Debbie Bennett all of Federalsburg; and Tracy Lowe of Greenwood, and Keith Bennett and his wife Amber of Lewes; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and many loved family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Bennett a brother: K. Sewell Bennett and two sisters: Mary Bradley and Jeanette Mowbray.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Farnell officiating. Burial will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
