William Frazer Callaway's Obituary
William Frazer Callaway of Federalsburg, MD died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 91.
Born August 10, 1922 on a farm near Bridgeville, DE , the son of the late William Treat Callaway and Agnes Mowbray Callaway.
After high school he attended Goldey Beacom College until World War II started when he enlisted in the Marines. Bill married Anne Garthe on August 14, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a WW II Marine Corp veteran serving with the 2nd Marine Air Wing in the Pacific Theatre as Staff Sergeant. He retired in 1985 from E.I.Dupont after 39 years of service. While employed at Dupont in Seaford he achieved the title of Machine Design Specialist and earned his A.A. Degree in mechanical engineering.
Bill is survived by his wife Anne of seventy years, daughter Roberta Jung and her husband, Paul of Bel Air, son, William G. Callaway and his wife, Nalinda of Federalsburg, and daughter, Carol Callaway of Chestertown, grandson, Jason Callaway and his wife, Holly of Atlanta, DE, granddaughter, Karen Callaway of Federalsburg, great grandson, Trevor William Callaway. Bill is also survived by his brother, Charles Callaway, a nephew, Clifford Callaway, both of Atlanta, DE, and niece, Diane Wheatley and her husband, Michael of Cockeysville, MD. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Callaway, sister-in-law, Pauline Callaway and a niece, Kathy McCumbers, two brothers-in-law, Will and Ed Garthe, and their wives, Leila and Blanche.
Bill was a devoted member of Union United Methodist Church and could be called on at any time until he was not able and served as a member of the church choir, the board of trustees, the finance committee, and treasurer.
A memorial service will be held at Union United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3 p.m. and the family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 -3:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
