William Towers Collins' Obituary
William “Willie or Bill” Towers Collins of Seaford, DE passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with his loved ones by his side. He was 76.
He was born October 12, 1936, in American Corner, MD, the son of the late A. Towers and Bertie Susie Collins Harris and was raised by his grandparents, Harvey John Collins and Mary Maggie Collins.
He worked as a plumbing and electrical contractor for Donald N. Trice Inc. of Denton, MD, a sales associate for Southern States of Preston, MD and was a poultry grower for Allen Farms of Seaford, DE and Harry Wheedleton of Galestown, MD until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Constance Wells Collins, two children, Karen Collins Brian-Smock and her husband David, of Greensboro, MD, and Angela Collins Welch and her husband Jeff, of Harrington, DE, two step-children, Jeff Newton and Shelly Newton Travers and her husband Jimmy, both of East New Market, MD, three grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Brian of Greensboro, MD, Dylan Alexander Collins of Cape May, NJ, Trenton James Welch of Harrington, DE, five step-grandchildren, Tyler Travers, Hunter Newton, Jordan Newton, Brandon Travers and Amber Travers, all of East New Market, a step-great-grandchild, Savannah Travers of East New Market, two brothers, Eliajah (Buddy) Harris of Melbane, NC and Harvey Lee Harris of Denton, MD, two sisters, Elsie Mae Wheedleton of Greensboro, and Betty Marie Harris Ebling of Chestertown, special nieces and nephews, Jennifer M. Wheedleton and Jack A. Wheedleton of Greensboro, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Naomi Mamie Summers Collins, a sister, Esther L. Summers, and a step-daughter-in-law, Tracy Newton.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, 216 North Main Street, Federalsburg, MD, with the Rev. Barbara Keyser officiating. Friends may call from 11:00-1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Framptom Funeral Home, 216 North Main Street, Federalsburg, MD, 21632 to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.
