William A. Morrison
William A. Morrison of Easton, MD died at Bayleigh Chase (formerly William Hill) Retirement Home on Monday, September 21, 2015. He was 92.
Born in New York City on May 21, 1923 he was the son of the late John and Ruth W. Morrison. He is preceded in death by his wife, Emily B. Morrison, and his sister Jean Moreland. He graduated from public school in New York City, then attended Syracuse University until he volunteered to serve his country with the Army Air Corps. during WWII. Following his release from active duty in 1945, he returned to Syracuse University, where he completed his education as a Mechanical Engineer. On February 18, 1950 he married his true love Emily Kathleen Brown. They made their home in Syracuse, New York where Mr. Morrison owned two companies prior to working at Hancock Air Force base. He moved his family to the Washington, D.C. area, where he worked for the US Navy Fuels Dept. and later for the VA Hospital as Chief Fire and Safety Engineer until his retirement.
Mr. Morrison was an alumnus for the Syracuse rowing team, and attended regattas around the world. He was a member of Psi Upsilon fraternity while at Syracuse University. He was an avid sailor, and traveled quite frequently abroad with his wife.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his four children; Douglas W. Morrison, Stephanie M. Larson, Denise M. (Tracy) Buxton, and John A. (Sharon) Morrison. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Hugh, Will and Tess Morrison, Alexander, Andrea and Elliott Buxton and Taylor, Olivia, Abigail and Isabelle Morrison.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michael’s, MD, on October 2, 2015 at 11:00A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Syracuse Alumni Rowing Assoc., P.O. Box 7202.Syracuse, New York 13261, or on-line at: [email protected].
