William Clark Andrews' Obituary
William Clark Andrews died at his home in Federalsburg on Tuesday, April 20, 2009. He was 80 years old.
He was born in Federalsburg on May 10, 1929 the son of the late Carlton Jackson Andrews and Samantha Ellen Phippin Andrews.
He graduated from Federalsburg High School in 1947 and worked for E. I. Dupont Co. in Seaford until enlisting in the U S Army on October 4, 1948. He was attached to Company D, of the 772nd Military Police Battalion while serving in the Korean Conflict for one year. He was discharged on October 10, 1951. He received the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars.
He started his career with the U. S. Postal Service in 1952 and retired as Postal Supervisor of the Federalsburg Post Office in 1988.
On October 2, 1954, Clark married the former Joan E. Taylor. A son Clark, Jr. was born in 1956.
He had been a little league coach and manager and Cub Scout Master. He was a 46 year member of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company where he was a driver of both fire apparatus and ambulances. He was a Past-President and treasurer for several years.
His other memberships included Nanticoke Lodge # 172 for 53 years and was a Life Member of Federalsburg VFW Post 5246. He enjoyed car trips and motorcycle touring.
He is survived by his wife, Joan E. Taylor Andrews, his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Janet P. Andrews of Federalsburg, his special grandsons, W. Clark Andrews, III and his wife Abby and W. Chad Andrews of Pittsburg, PA and several cousins and a niece and nephew.
Funerals services for him will be held on Friday, April 23rd at 2 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
