Betty Roberts Carr's Obituary
BOZMAN — Betty Roberts Carr, 94, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2017 at her home in Bozman, MD.
Betty, daughter of Lola Bridges Roberts and George Avery Roberts, and loving wife of William Lyles Carr Jr., was a native of Bozman and Breezy Point.
She is survived by her three children, Lyles III, Suzanne and Tyler, and six grandchildren. Betty went to the same two-room school house in Bozman as her mother, Lola. An avid sailor in her teens, she was a favorite around the Breezy Point Summer Pavilion and boarding house her grandmother ran.
Betty was a leader, whether with Cub Scouts and Brownies, in the community, or as founder and significant contributor of both the Crofton Little Theatre and Talbot Little Theatre. President of the Women’s Club several times and long-time proprietor of the Blue Swan Christmas Shop, she was a familiar figure to residents in and around St. Michaels; who might find her having coffee at Carpenter Street Saloon, crab cakes at the Crab Claw, or hosting a luncheon at the Miles River Yacht Club. A little bit Lucy, a little bit Scarlet; she will be missed and remembered by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the MRYC Foundation, 606A N. Talbot Street S115, St. Michaels, MD 21663. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Miles River Yacht Club on Friday, May 19 at 3 p.m.
