Charles Hubert Arnie's Obituary
Charles Hubert Arnie of Lewes, DE passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his home. He was 80 years old.
He was born March 30, 1933 in Easton, MD, the son of Manville Charles Arnie and Louise Pauline Linnertz Arnie.
He graduated from Preston High School class of 1951. Charles served his country during the Korean War enlisting in the United States Navy. For nearly 20 years he owned and operated, along with his father, the Black Kettle restaurant in Preston, MD. He then became the Supervisor of Assessments for Caroline County and retired from the county in 1993. He loved fishing and spending time walking on the beach in Chincoteague and Rehoboth. He was a Baltimore Colts fan and enjoyed going to their games. He was an active volunteer at the Preston Carnival. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston and later became a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth. He was a devoted family man, and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Hubbard Chance Arnie, three children, Patti J. Heare and her husband Jerry of Baltimore, MD, Ray C. Arnie and his wife Rose Ann of Federalsburg, MD, and Jeffery A. Arnie and his wife Karen of Charlotte, NC, a sister, Rosalie Messick and her husband, Jack of Reliance, MD, five grandchildren, Joshua Arnie and his wife Shannon, of Salisbury, MD, Jordan DeMuth and her husband Scott of Nottingham, MD, Joseph Arnie and his fiancee Lindsey Brannock of Cambridge, Jeremy Heare of Baltimore and Samuel Arnie of Charlotte, NC.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary Lou Kelly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, 216 North Main Street, Federalsburg, MD, with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Friends may call from 11:30-1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston.
