Charles C Callaway's Obituary
Charles C. Callaway of Bridgeville, DE passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. He was 86.
He was born on July 22, 1930 near Bridgeville, DE, the son of the late William Treat Callaway and Agnes Mowbray Callaway. Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Pauline Gray Callaway on March 20, 2013.
Mr. Callaway was a farmer all of his life, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Delmarva Poultry Industry.
Charles was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Oak Grove, Seaford, DE and had served on a number of committees and board council. He loved music, especially the old hymns, and sang in the Bethel Church Choir for many years. He also was Vice President and director of the Bethel Cemetery Association, Inc. Oak Grove, Seaford, DE.
Mr. Callaway enjoyed family gatherings, crab feasts, old tractors, and in his later years, sitting on his deck watching the corn and soybeans grow.
He is survived by his son, Clifford C. Callaway and his fiancée, Donna K. Johnson, son-in-law, Michael D. McCumbers, a sister-in-law, Anne G. Callaway, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn C. McCumbers, a brother, William F. "Bill" Callaway and a sister, Mary K. Callaway.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday April 9, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Carol Price officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Oak Grove, Seaford, DE. A visitation with the family will be from 1-3 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethel Cemetery Association, c/o Freda Lovelace, 29449 North Oak Grove Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.
