When we were growing up in Ridgley back in the 40's a nickel went a long way. When many of us got a nickel in our pocket we went to "Lang Lang's" (Lane's) to fill our pockets with candy. Apparently Charlie was more fond of soda and used his nickel to buy a "Nichol Kola", a drink put out by the Marvel Bottling Company in Ridgley. It seemed like he drank one every day and from those days on we tagged Charlie with the nick name of "Nichol Kola".
