Charlotte Margaret Hutson's Obituary

Charlotte M. Hutson passed away Tuesday January 4th, 2022, Just two days before celebrating her 93rd birthday. She was the daughter of the late Otis L. and Ada E. Smith.
Charlotte was a graduate of Caesar Rodney H.S. Class of 1947. Upon graduation she was employed as a secretary in the office of Masten Trucking Co. Milford, De. In 1953, she started a career in the insurance industry at Raughley Insurance Service, Harrington, De, and continued in that profession until she retired in 1996.
Charlotte was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington, De., its Pathfinders Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, having served as Secretary and President of both, and Secretary of the Memorial Committee for many years. She was one of the original founders of the Harrington Historical Society, a Lifetime Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Greenwood Memorial Post #7478, a Lifetime Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Millsboro, Delaware, Purple Heart Unit #1787, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Harrington Moose Lodge. Charlotte enjoyed collecting antiques, she and her husband loved traveling to Pennsylvania to various antique markets and they were in attendance at Wilson's Auction every Saturday night. She especially loved to collect glassware and china which she would use to set a beautiful table when hosting a wonderful meal for family and friends.
Although Charlotte did not have children of her own, she did enjoy her many nieces and nephews. Charlotte loved her family dearly and throughout her life helped to raise four generations, always giving of her time and willing to help in any way she could. She was the Matriarch of the family. Her love and constant support will never be forgotten, nor will the family favorite holiday desert of pumpkin pie that she so lovingly made for her family year after year. The family was so fortunate to have spent a great Christmas with her this year and enjoy pie one more time with her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hutson, and brothers James A. Lewis and Robert L. Smith. She is survived by two loving care givers, Barbara Stallard, a niece of Harrington, De. and Joan Hamstead, a great niece, of Greenwood De. Along with a host of Nieces and Nephews Charlotte is also survived by many good friends that provided for hours of good conversation which she enjoyed and was grateful to have.
A 2pm graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington, DE.
