My name is Susan Brown and I was raised in Arnold. Danny was my softball coach for Mago Vista for several years when I was a teenager. I was so surprised to read that he was only 56. Im 52, so even though there is only a 4 year difference that I just discovered,, I always thought he was SOOOO old! He was the best coach ever:
He worked us girls very hard and even though we were a bunch of teenage girls, we all knew that Danny was completely dedicated to us. And that made us completely dedicated to him. Maybe that's why we won all the time!
He made us go to practice and sometimes Id be out on my horse, not wanting to go, but I knew hed be disappointed in me, so Id ride my horse to the practice field, tie him up to the backstop, and practice.
Im now a veterinarian and Danny gave me the drive and determination to pursue my dream. He never gave up on me despite my antics so I never gave up on myself.
I have nothing but the fondest memories of him and he made me what I am today.
I am very sorry to hear that he has passed.
